The overall aim of this Lean Manufacturing Tools course is to enable learners to build the skills, knowledge and competence in the principles and application of Lean in a range of organisational environments. The module requires learners to undertake a number of lean management tasks which they will complete in the context of their own work environment. This will facilitate active learning allowing learners to link theory to practice and demonstrate their learning on the programme. The Programme covers:
- An overview of Lean production and manufacturing.
- DMAIC methodology and its applications in modern organisations.
- Identifying and scoping improvement projects and sources of waste.
- The measurement and analysis of problems within organisations using a range of techniques and methods including Value Stream Mapping, Benchmarking, Root Cause Analysis, Voice of the Customer, Kanban and Lean SWOT analysis’.
- The implementation of Lean initiatives including solution generation and screening designing the ‘future state’, pilot testing and full implementation.
- Planning and managing the monitoring and control of Lean initiatives.

- Learners must be a resident of Ireland / based in Ireland.Candidates must be fluent in English with excellent written English Skills in order to achieve the assessment criteria. Queries on the standard required can be directed to the college.

- A basic working knowledge of computers and access to a computer with internet access is required to do the course.
