CMIT is committed to ensuring that our website, eLearning platform, and content is accessible to all learners, including people who use assistive technologies.
We aim to meet the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) by designing our services in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
What we are doing
To support accessibility across our website, eLearning platform, and all learning materials, CMIT provides the following:
Accessible learning platform: We use the Moodle 4 platform, which is built and maintained with accessibility in mind.
Inclusive course content design: We create manuals, videos, quizzes, assessments, and resources in line with recognised accessibility best practices.
Accessible video learning: We provide Closed Captions and Full Transcripts for all new video content to support a wide range of learner needs.
Screen-reader-friendly documents: We tag PDFs and Word documents with structured headings, alt text for images, and logical reading order for use with assistive technologies.
Clear and structured web content: We write website text in plain, concise language with correct headings, lists, and tables for easy navigation.
Meaningful image descriptions: We add descriptive alt tags to informative images and mark decorative images, so they are skipped by assistive tools.
User-friendly online forms: We design forms with clear labels, logical tab order, high-contrast text, and easy-to-understand error messages.
Ongoing review and improvement: We regularly review, test, and update digital content, websites, and learning materials to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
Known limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some materials may not yet meet current standards. This includes some videos and course manuals. It is our aim that all materials will be accessible by end 2025.
